Hi Greeny,

I was just browsing the very interesting articles on Domesday Reloaded. In particular the one about Hartshead Service Reservoir which apparently is built underground and stores 35 million litres of treated water from the Greenfield Valley.....Dovestones I presume?

Does anyone know where this underground reservoir is? It was built between June 1981 and June 1983 and replaced the decommissioned Knott Hill reservoir which closed because it was leaking.

I often walk the dogs around Knott Hill, it's a beautiful nature reserve now,

I just googled it and it came up as Hartshead Moor in Yorkshire.

You'd obviously found Hartshead Services on the M60!

Mr Google was more helpful to me, finding a reference to an excavation for a reservoir in 1981 at grid reference SD 959 015, which puts it just to the right of the word "Hill" in the centre of this map.

You can see the structure in this Birds Eye View. It is behind Knott Hill Farm and to the north of the former Knott Hill Reservoir.

I wasn't looking at the M60!

There is a Hartshead Moor reservoir built near to Bradford.
