It's all projections, since when are they right!!(Ridership and cost) reads like PR Speak from their point of view.I think it will end up under used, expensive.Maybe another sink hole of tax payers money.

Hi Fudge I had to smile at your letter about your dad having to wind up  his truck at the front
The starting handle came in handy when you had a flat battery.Did it have tree wheels
I think it would have been a mechanical horse made by Scammel
Do you remember the horses walking from near Piccalilli station back to there stables with no driver

That's quite an assumption to make.
The passengers will come from buses not cars.

Well that's quite an assumption as well. I presume you have some research to support it? The Bury and Altrincham line has attracted many people from cars who were not bus users. There are some people who, for some unknown reason, wouldn't be seen dead on a bus, but who are very happy to travel on a tram.

Albert the cab part did have 3 wheels. I rarely went to M/C when I was a child and the only places that stuck in my mind was Lewis Fudge

Scammel Scarab, Wot Del Boy would have driven if he'd been a truckie  ;)

What is this wonderful public transport of which we speak ?, our one a day slow train to the capital ceased running 13 years ago and the bus only runs twice a day  ;)

Hi Albert, thanks for the news about the lifeboat, have passed the BBC link onto the TV3 news in NZ coz the story went completely unreported down here.  :)

My Sister has a car and took the train to work. I'm not kidding, you would have thought she was an Angeleno, driving from just off Elizabeth Street down Turner Lane to park in the station car park. She worked in the bendy building at Piccadilly. So yes, people with cars don't always use them to commute to work. Cars are however very convenient. Her sister lives in Glossop and daughters  in Hyde and Hattersley, so in the past a bus to Guide bridge and train to Glossop would be the preferred route but now the motorway can get you to Hattersley in 10-15 minutes.

The thing with the tram that is of concern is traffic behaviour of other drivers. That last video tram cam saw some not very smart behaviour from all drivers bus, lorry and cars.

Apart from being blown about Ashton, Bill's OK (thanks for asking) but has decided to pipe down a bit.

Just to add to Chris's depiction of the weather........
