Hi Bill,

Thank you so much for the "Winter Pictures", just helps us to feel a little cooler here in WA !!! I can just feel those cool breezes coming off the snow.(In my mind!!)  Wonderful photography, not a soul in sight - maybe just as well? 'man taking photographs at night' ha ha ha. Keep it going though, always intriguing. Could you please tell us where DANDO's is situated, for the life of us, we cannot work out which part of Ashton that is now.

Many thanks Danny

Hello Danny.

Dando's is on the corner of the Market Avenue and Old Street - right in the middle of this view.

It was late o'clock when I was wandering round and, apart from a few stragglers, had the place to myself.  Magic.  It had gone much milder than of late and I enjoyed the ramble.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures - I enjoyed taking them.

Hi
I thought that Photo was taken near the avenue I recognised the top of the church on the corner I used to play snooker up there with Tommy Fox his dad was the caretaker. They have built something in the front is it still a church. herby

No snow here at Preesall. It was raining all day yesterday, and this morning we had fog, but now the sun has broke through and it`s quite bright with just a few misty patches. It`s much warmer than it has been for the past few days too.

I don't know of any churches near there herby.  The building on the same side as Dando's and on the other corner is the Natwest Bank.

I think Herby may be talking about the photo from the Stamford Street end of the Avenue, with the church in question being the Methodist church, now cloaked in scaffolding.

Herby you are probably thinking of former Stamford street Methodist chapel which was on the corner of Warrington st and Stamford st. Just along was the old woolworths and,as you turned out of the avenue on to Stamford st, the chapel was diagonally opposite. No longer in use.

This one came out black and I've doctored it a bit.  It looks a bit spooky...

Here

The chucks are looking great. One tip about filming through railings, if the gap allows close your camera and push it through the gap, then you can film from the other side of the railings, it also lets you lean on the fence while filming.

What with Bill taking photo's in the early hours, you filming this morning and me filming this afternoon, its a wonder someone doesn't get on to the Reporter about these strange people hanging around Ashton with camera's.  ;D ;D

I was looking at the photo Bill took of the war memorial, is it my imagination but is there a ghostly figure standing to attention looking at the memorial, he's in front of the bush bottom left. Probably just a light and shadow thing, but creepy anyway.
