Nowt else posted under this topic, but plenty posted under other topics.

Since the last time you popped in, Stamford School has been demolished and the site is being developed as a primary school and a housing estate.

You may like to see Vanessa's video of the old Stamford School buildings shortly before they were demolished.

The end of an era.
When I first attended Stamford, Mr Donnelly was deputy head. I never had a problem with the chap though a high percentage of kids lived in fear of him.
Maybe it was the fact that he often carried his cane up his jacket sleeve, that way not having to waste time sending malefactors to the office to be caned but was able to hand out the punishment on the spot.

I'm betting that wouldn't go down too well in these excessively PC days.

Albert, my dad left Stamford in 1946. His name was Jimmy Brown and he lived on Corkland Close Cockbrook. He went to work in the Co-op on Stamford Crescent on his 14th Birthday.

Albert, my grandad was in the army. When they came back from India at the star of WW2, they lived at Crawford Terrace before going to Corkland Close. Dad went to St Gabriels, then Parochial. John Yates (The Petman) also lived on Corkland Close.
