Christ Church School, Waterloo
« on: December 29, 2009, 12:37 AM »
This was taken in my last school year at Christ Church, so I suppose it was taken about July 1966.

The teacher on the far left is Mr Turner, Headmaster Mr Bagnall in the middle, Mr Foster on the far right was still learning and a temporary teacher.

Had to smile at the headteacher sitting on the little tiny chair! :)   and you didn't say which one was you, Vanessa!

On the Rayner Lane thread we have been talking about Vinnie Carrols wife, Sharon, she is on this photo back row far right. Do you recognise her Ian. Not long before this photo, Sharon and I had visited Rennie's hairdressing on Newmarket Road and had our hair cut short.

Very good photograph.
Interestingly, that's a different Paul Shevlin to the one I went to school with.

Sadly Paul died in May 1990, aged 34 (he would have been 35 in August), he was doing a charity walk in the Snake Pass area, he sat down to rest and was found dead later.

Sadly, I don't recognize anyone - my school photos from Waterloo were still in black and white:)

This was the first colour photo, all the previous ones are in black and white.

Although I didnít go to Waterloo Christ Church I have a photo of myself in the doorway of the school taken about 1946. I have absolutely no idea who took it nor how I ended up with the negative because none of my family had a camera in those days. Next to me is Kathleen who did go to the school and behind us is her mother Mrs Cook who used to help out with pantomimes and other events.

If my memory serves me well, the door you're stood at is the one to the playground at the back, the door in the background is the entrance. Seeing those doors alone brought back a lot of memories.

I recognised a few of the names you list. There was a large family called Ramsden who lived in Reins Lee Road, on the corner of Beech Mount where I used to live. I wonder if Denise was from that family?  There was a Shevlin famlly from Downshaw Rd who went to Christchurch but came to the Methodist Sunday School. Wonder if Paul was one of that family?

I'll ask my mum if she remembers where the Ramsdens and Shevlins lived.
