Hi All, Today we have a perfect example of the word HYPOCRISY:  Over the last several days we have heard from the Tory party and Nigel (Please Donald, look at me) Farage who keep saying the "Will of the people" here and the "Will of the people there" concerning what is going on in Parliament. YET we have a man (Dominic Cummings) who is literally RUNNING the British Government who was neither elected OR is even a member of the Tory party. Now THAT is hypocrisy. The second example of Tory lunacy that Cummings is hoisting on the British electorate is astounding. I have no time for Tories or Farage, yet if they want to form an alliance during the upcoming General Election, that is their right, this will NOT happen because Cummings DETESTS Farage. So here we have a man standing in the way of an alliance which AFFECTS British people (and their voting rights) as a whole, because of HIS dislike of another person. Nothing to do with policy at all.

The sooner these idiots are gone (after the 31st October) the better.

Hi All, Again today we hear that this reckless NO DEAL brexit has exposed another "bump in the road". Michael Gove is getting ready to put 1,600 servicemen on standby to drive fuel trucks because of the possibility of a fuel shortage. It actually makes one sometimes WISh that NO DEAL goes through and that the one's who voted for brexit can see what their stupidy has cost them.
They will be the first to cry if there is a shortage of fuel and they cannot get to their place of employment. To me that would be poetic justice. One can just see them now with all the shortages that they encounter, blaming the Government that THEY empowered to get their NO DEAL brexit, for all the chaos. The trouble is that it would also disrupt the lives of those who did NOT vote for brexit. So we need a DEAL.

Just a thoght....

Hi All, Maybe T.S. Elliot was clairvoyant and wrote "The Hollow Men" about Boris and Nigel almost 95 years ago knowing what was to come.

Hi All, This morning the Mini Trump is off to Ireland to discuss the backstop. With Johnson trying to change the backstop (which will NOT happen) it reminds me of the old Thomas Osborne Davis song " A Nation Once Again" (which I have printed below). If Johnson keeps pushing the way he has to disrupt the Good Friday Agreement, then this song will soon become very popular again. The only difference being is that they will be singing it in NORTHERN IRELAND and not just the SOUTH. People must remember that the bribed DUP do NOT speak for all of Northern Ireland.

When boyhood's fire was in my blood
I read of ancient freemen,
For Greece and Rome who bravely stood,
Three hundred men and three men;
And then I prayed I yet might see
Our fetters rent in twain,
And Ireland, long a province, be
A Nation once again!

A Nation once again,
A Nation once again,
And Ireland, long a province, be
A Nation once again!

And from that time, through wildest woe,
That hope has shone a far light,
Nor could love's brightest summer glow
Outshine that solemn starlight;
It seemed to watch above my head
In forum, field and fane,
Its angel voice sang round my bed,
A Nation once again!

A Nation once again,
A Nation once again,
And Ireland, long a province, be
A Nation once again!

It whisper'd too, that freedom's ark
And service high and holy,
Would be profaned by feelings dark
And passions vain or lowly;
For, Freedom comes from God's right hand,
And needs a Godly train;
And righteous men must make our land
A Nation once again!

A Nation once again,
A Nation once again,
And Ireland, long a province, be
A Nation once again!

So, as I grew from boy to man,
I bent me to that bidding
My spirit of each selfish plan
And cruel passion ridding;
For, thus I hoped some day to aid,
Oh, can such hope be vain?
When my dear country shall be made
A Nation once again!

If Johnson wants to keep Northern Ireland in the UK I suggest he tread very carefully today. (plus Nancy Pelosi will ALSO be watching).

I'm basically a simple soul so I can't understand how a bunch of rebellious Tory MPs think we can get 'a deal' when the EU negotiators  have refused to negotiate any more. HOW DOES THAT WORK? I'm convinced their opposition is just a figleaf for another referendum and if a second one is forced on the UK public, I hope all those who democratically voted to leave the EU (me included) will rise up and take to the streets (Hong Kong style).

Hi All, Hi Son of Nomad, As I have said before "everyone is entitled to their opinion" even if mine is diametrically opposed to your's we debate and learn. This is how things work.

As to your comment concerning"rising up and taking to the streets". This will NEVER happen because British people do not have the backbone for it. (I am only talking about internal politics here, not international politic's like going to war and suchlike) In 1381 a man by the name of Wat Tyler was the leader of what became known as the 'Peasant's Revolt'. They marched from Canterbury to Smithfield in London to protest (To Richard 11) the 'poll tax' and 'social reform'. (Tyler was killed during the 'negotiations).  Exactly 638 years later we are STILL fighting the poll tax and social reform.

In those 638 years the ruling class (the ancesters of those during the reign of Richard 11) are STILL running Britain. The ancesters of those who marched from Cantubery to London are STILL doffing their caps to their betters. (metaphorically speaking) British people have been BRAINWASHED over the last 800 years to 'do as they are told' and the aristocracy know what's best for you. This will NEVER change. Who owns most of the land in Britain? (NOT owned by the church) the common people? not on your life. It is the aristocracy. I will capitalise the following statement for emphasis. 'HALF OF THE LAND IN BRITAIN IS OWNED BY LESS THAN 1% OF THE POPULATION'. Now take a second for that to sink in. Do you honestly think that these people would allow a commoner like you or me to take all that away? NEVER.  British people, as I have said, will never have the 'gumption' or the courage to change any of it. They will go to war anywhere in the world for 'Queen and Country' it is part of their character to protect Britain. But it is ALSO part of their character to kowtow to their 'betters'. (As has been instilled into them for the last 800 years) The English Civil War (1642 - 1651) was fought over this very subject. (governance.) I doubt (even with your zeal Son of Nomad) it will ever happen again.

Just a thought......

PS. As to my thinking it is NO coincidence that people like Ernesto (Che) Guevara, Shaka kaSenzangakhona, Patrice Lumumba, Fidel Castro and Wat Tyler amongst others, are my Heroes.

Hi daftjack
I’m obliged for the history lesson (it was never my strong subject at school). I posed a question in the first line of my previous post but I’ve not heard anyone, anywhere at any time provide a definitive answer. It’s like trying to get a quart into a pint pot - Ooops I’m showing my age mentioning those measures.
As regards my comment about taking to the streets it was slightly ‘tongue-in-cheek’ but we have seen ‘remainers’ publically demonstrating so I hope we ‘leavers’ will do the same if the spectre of a 2nd referendum becomes a reality. (I will be the one at the back carrying a banner).

PS. As to my thinking it is NO coincidence that people like Ernesto (Che) Guevara, Shaka kaSenzangakhona, Patrice Lumumba, Fidel Castro and Wat Tyler amongst others, are my Heroes.

Blimey!! It's not often i'm lost for words but this is one of those occasions.

Hi All, Here we have a Government that is so SCARED of its OWN assessment of a NO DEAL brexit  (on the UK) that it refuses to publish its findings. (Yellowhammer) When you have a Government doing this then you know that things are bad. What have they got to hide? In 2016 during the run up to the referendum Mini Trump was running round in a big red bus misleading the public with the slogan "£350 million a WEEK for the NHS". As we now know, this was an outright lie from him. Three and a half years later the same people (Mini Trump, Farage and Cummings) are still misleading the public about the consequences of a NO DEAL brexit.

I wonder when the British Leave voters will wake up and finally understand that WITHOUT Europe we are sitting ducks for whatever America see's fit to give us. Just this week we have heard from Kudlow that Britain is NOT the first in line for a deal. People (in Britain) who do not understand how the American system works (and there are many) need to educate themselves about their system of Government. No matter what Trump, or Bolton say about a quick deal, they have NO say in its passage through congress. When and IF a deal is reached on trade (which CAN take years) it must then be ratified by Both houses of congress. Nancy Pelosi is the speaker in the house of representatives, which at the moment, is controlled by the Democrats (Anti Trump) The Senate is controlled by the Republicans (pro Trump) the speaker is Mitch McConnell. When a bill reaches the house of reps it goes nowhere UNTIL they decide to ratify it. Once this is done it is sent to the Senate who ratify it and send to the President to be signed into law.

The reason I have mentioned the above is the fact that (I have mentioned this before) Palosi has said that if there is ANY threat to the Good Friday Agreement (of which America chaired) then any deal between America and the UK will be "dead in the water". Make no mistake this lady makes Thatcher look like a soft women. As an example of this the USMCA was signed By America, Mexico and Canada in November 2018. It has STILL not been ratified by congress. Almost a year after the signing. This is normal procedure. Imagine how much longer Palosi could hold up a British trade deal if anything were to upset her? (like the backstop).

If we were to leave with a NO DEAL (which now seems very unlikely) Would Mini Trump, Farage, Cummings or any of those in Parliament who are pushing for a NO DEAL suffer? of course not. Only working class people would take all the pain. Mini trump and his cronies are trying to turn Britain into a hedge fund paradise for all their rich (and Infamous) friends. As an example of what is to come Think back to the 2008 bank problems. How many bankers or people in Government suffered? NONE. Who bailed them out? The TAXPAYERS. Who were the one's to suffer? Working class people.

Farage the dumb is a pefect example of a NO DEAL brexiteer. HE keeps pushing for a NO DEAL yet spends most of his time in America. The following is a copy taken from an interview with Farage:

Quote
Speaking at the launch of the Brexit party campaign in Scotland, Mr Farage said he did not declare it to the European Parliament because he was about to leave politics and had been seeking a new life in the US.
[/glow] This was in May 2019.

I think this says it all concerning Farage. Hypocrisy unfettered. As for Cumming, the least said the better.

Hi All, Hi Son of Nomad, I am sorry you are 'lost for words' But we each have our Heroes. Mine are people who shaped the world and made it a better place for the working classes. Do NOT believe all you read in right wing trash papers and books. If any of the people I have mentioned (other than Shaka and Wat) did NOT fight the CIA they would still be alive today (Except Fidel) Although the CIA DID try for 50 years to kill him. The CIA were directly responsible for the deaths of Patrice Lumumba in the Congo (Now the DRC) and Che Guevara in Bolivia.

The question you should ask yourself is the following: WHAT were the CIA and America doing in the Congo in 1961 and Bolivia in 1967? start from there for your education of CIA Sanctioned executions of Foreign nationals. You will be very surprised at what you find. The bad people are sometimes not as bad as they are made out to be. The good people are sometimes not as good as they are made out to be. I was going to upload a photo of Che the day after he was executed (murdered) but some people might not like it. I have instead quoted from Che himself (his epitaph) I think you will find it appropriate:

Quote
"Wherever death may surprise us, let it be welcome, provided that this our battle cry may have reached some receptive ear and another hand may be extended to wield our weapons."

Hi All, The Government have decided today the following: (after losing the vote last evening)

Quote
The spokesman confirmed that the government intended to publish a revised version of the government’s Operational Yellowhammer report about what might happen in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

By REVISED VERSION I expect that they mean anything that mention's a shortage will be removed. You just could not make this stuff up. They really are the British Trump party.

PS. I do not know which is sadder. What I have just posted concerning our Government or Trump with his black marker and the weather? Although with Trump he DOES have an excuse, STUPIDITY.

First for a long time!!!
Welcome back Bil,DJ??
Greece had the op pertunity, didn't take it,look at them now.
You have the op pertunity???
Deutcher Bank,Catalonia,Italy, Portugal,Hungary,Italy to start!!!
EU with Lagarde, what could possibly go wrong.

Politics is a dirty, dirty business and has been left to the troughers to waffle about as long their pot of gold remains intact.
Dead if you do,dead if you don't.
The vast majority of our legislator's couldn't legislate to protect their own heads from rain.  Unskilled in the art of listening: pompous about the letters after their names and incorrigible rentagobs for the media, they adore intrigue, are usually oversexed, and are often utterly incapable of sketching out a medium-term future beyond the end of a wind-sniffing nose.
Those who sit in front of TV news,  or read newspapers are programmed to be mindless automatons.

Hi all, Now we hear that the right wing thug Netanyahu has announced plans to annex parts of the West Bank if he wins re-election next week. Will we here any protests from the Jewish labour MP's? or our right wing Government, concerning Palestinian rights over their OWN land? Of course not. Soon when the genocide of the Palestinian people is complete our Government and our Jewish MP's will say "we never knew it was this bad". What cowards we have in Government. Isreal consistantly breaks UN resolutions with impunity. What do our Government do? NOTHING.

Imagine if this was Iran or Russia acting this way? there would be uproar. It does NOT pay to be Palestinian in the Britain of today. I only wish that the people on this Forum could see, close up, and first hand, what barrel bombs and White Phosphorus artillery shells do to the body of a six year old Palestinian girl cowering for cover when they are released. The effect is that the skin is burnt through to the bone in seconds. Not a pretty sight.

There is one piece of good news the Idiot Trump has had a spilt second of intelligence and fired Bolton (the war monger). All we need now is to get rid of the other three, Trump, Netanyahu and Johnson and the world will be a safer place to live. (for now).

Just a thought.......

HI All, If you look at the cartoon below you will find that it refers to Three of the worlds biggest clowns. The other two, Netanyahu and Bolsonaro are beyond clowns. They are just right wing thugs.
These three pathological liars are today leading the rush towards fascism. In 1919 a young man took over a small right wing party (The German workers Party)  In 1920, the party renamed itself the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazis), and announced its Twenty-Five Point Programme. At first, the Nazis were both nationalist (they believed in Germany’s greatness) and socialist (they believed the state should benefit everybody equally). We ALL know how this ended!!!! Because nobody took their rhetoric seriously until it was too late.

The people we have in power today (those I have mentioned) have the same Idea's and character as the young man in 1920 had. If we do NOT take seriously the rhetoric of these FIVE lunatics we will have a similar outcome to that of 1939-45. Only this time, WE will be the aggressor's. Trump is without doubt the 'leader' of the other four, who take their lead from him. (I would bet a heavy wager that these five are always in touch with each other) Not even a brexiteer voted to have our foreign policy dictated to us from the White House. Trump in his own lunatic ways has given birth to what is now being called 'populist' politics. This has had the same effect as that of Typhon and Echidna with their issue, namely, creating monsters.

Most people reading this post will dismiss it out of hand because they know my political leanings. Having said that, I would like to suggest that you read the outpourings of the five I have mentioned and see the very obvious similarities between them all. When we hear Trump talking about destroying Iran or obliterating North Korea, ( He is NOT joking) who do you think Johnson and company will side with? I might refer to these people as clowns, but believe me, they are FAR from that.  I imagine there were people in 1920 and beyond who wrote about the young man taking over their party and how dangerous he was, but alas no one listened.

We need to rid ourselves of these five fascists ( who, under the right conditions, with Trump in charge, really could destroy the world) and bring back some decency and intelligent thought. (If you think that was heavy handed I will just mention Iraq, Syria, the Yemen ( where hundreds are being slaughtered today and WE send arms to their murderers, yet very rarely mentioned in the newsprint) Afghanistan, Palestine and the little overt wars you do NOT know about. It is time for people to stand up and say that they are not prepared to put up with this dangerous situation and we DEMAND better. (None of these things are helped by Britains answer to Fox News, The Daily Mail, and its right wing hatred of all things NOT Tory).

Hi All, AT LAST, a bit of sanity (from Scotland) the supreme civil court in Scotland, in a majority decision have said that Johnson's Prorogation of Parliament is  "unlawful and is thus null and of no effect". You can always trust a Jock to put things to rights.
