Those from Palace Road.
« on: June 13, 2019, 12:01 PM »
In the '60's Palace Road had a real community atmosphere. We did not always see eye to eye on some things and, god knows, I was always in trouble for one reason or another. Still people looked out for their neighbour's. People would bring out chairs in the summer and chat with their friends and (sometimes not so friendly) neighbours. Everyone knew everone else (and thier business). Today I do not recognise Palace Road. It is just a road with no heart. I suppose that is 'progress' in the 2000's.

I have not seen or heard about many of the people I regarded as friends and neighbours (and sometimes more) who used to live on Palace Road as the same time as myself. I hope that all those who did, found Happiness, Love and Contenment in their lives. I remember a lot of those who I knew in those days. For the women I can only give their maiden names as I knew them.
Pat O' Brien and her family.
Brenda and Monika Jones.
Sandra Gregory and Family.
Mick Partington.
The Thomason's.
The Johnson's.
The Sidebottom's.
The above all lived in Townsley Grove.

The Jackson's.
The Fletcher's.
The Lee's (with Christine).
The Taylor's (with Margaret).
The Gosin's (with Denise).
The McKluskie's.
The Humphrie's (with claire).
The Barber's.
The Peter's.
The Robertson's.
The Sidebottom's.
The above all lived on Palace Road.

I have no doubt there are many who I have forgottton, for that, forgive me. I know of some who have died, but the majority I know nothing of. As I said I would like to think that they all found the lives that they dreamed of and grew into old age knowing love and affection. To them all I say " thank you for being a part of my childhood and making it brighter for me, for having had you all in my life". I hope you all live to be a 100.
