Still thoughtful? but after 51 years what the heck. I make a fire in the basement,no lights on ,bell disconnected(hardwired?).Not that I'm a miserable sod but I've served my time Halloween wise.
Just a time for ourselves,which is great.

Halloween is just another former religious occasion that Mammon has turned into a brainless celebration of anti-social behavior.

Another aspect of creeping Americanisation (Ooops –that sounds like an American word, sorry). They’re now playing that strange form of rugby called NFL football at Wembley. Whatever next? I seem to recall some ‘trick or treaters’ coming round at one time but with the perceived dangers of youngsters knocking on the doors of strangers it seems to have died out thank goodness. Yes jaywit, Mammon has been at work again with an abundance of Halloween paraphernalia on sale at major stores. My dear late father would have called it a ‘catchpenny’ but I think it is simply corporate greed.
