Whit Walks 2016

Well another year and the walks are still going the crowds that watch have shrunk but hope still goes on.
This year the service was led by the Revd George Reeves The Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor Phillip Fitzpatrick and Angela Rayner MP. A short tribute was said in rememberance of Jo Cox who life was so cruelly taken. Hymn Be still for the Presence of the Lord
Scripture reading 1 corinthians 12: 12_14 &18_27
Hymn I the Lord of sea and sky
Prayers
Hymn Walk in the light
Blessing and National Anthem

Order of Procession
1 St Gabriels
2 St Michaels
3 Albion and Christians of Hurst
4 St James
5 St Peters
6 Christ Church - Canon Johnson
7 Christ Church  - Canon Burrows
There were some lovely Rose Queens and plenty of bands
next years walk is the 18th June 2017

hi great photographs ,vanessa its sad to see the decline over the years but it was a good turn out  :)

Fudge, isn't the Anglican church at Hurst called St John's? If so, wouldn't they be represented in their own right? Also, who are the Christians of Hurst?

The Churches who represent Hurst  are from Hurst Nook, Hurst Meths and I presume St Johns I know some of the Free Church people They had a banner made for the Christians of Hurst a few years ago. They have walked under that Banner in Ashton Walks for a few years now as the walks at Hurst stopped  Fudge
