Parochial School near War memorial
« on: April 30, 2015, 06:08 AM »
Funny how things pop into your mind at the funniest times.
I was watching a show on TV and this name came up "Ambler"
I then remembered that there was a teacher of that name at the above school app 1938
They had a green grocers shop on Old St near St Michaels square.
any one old timer recall this ?

Yes Brian, I have memories of Ambler and Mosley's grocers shop in the top of Old Street. Along the front of the counter in the shop they used to have opened sacks of dried peas and beans. It appears we had gone shopping and my mother was talking to some other lady when someone said, 'Eh! look at that little lad!' Yes, yours truly was taking a handful of one sort of peas and putting then in the butter beans and a handful of butter beans in the haricot beans and so on. It was quite a long time before we shopped at Ambler and Mosley's again. Stay well.   Ayess
