Recommended printer please!
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:10 PM »
Mine is driving me mad. Says it has a paper jam when it clearly has NOT! Reading on line support, it seems likely I will have to ditch this one and buy a new one. I don't need an all singing, all dancing one. Print a few pages a month, occasional scanning , don't need photo printing facility. Any recommendations please?

Does your "Brother Laser HL-2240" print good colours and photos, Jaywit and Ashtonian54?   Just wondering in case I some day have to replace my Epson CX4800 (Inkjet) which I've been really pleased with for several years.  If you need them, it makes pictures just like photographers if you use the right photo paper.

Hi Meg
I've had a Canon M X 300 series for the last ten years cost me 38 dollars  to buy the catch is the ink is expensive to buy 66 dollars for a Colour and Black Cartridge. It Prints Scans Faxes. Prints good photos too I never have had trouble with it. but I don't do a hell of a lot of printing though.    herby

No colour, just black. After the umteen dried out HP cartridges at $60 a pop we decided to let the pros print for us.Much cheaper in the long run.

Fudge,
we have piles since before Xmas, been a long cold winter -20 now with a wind chill of much more.To keep out of the cold we've been decorating the bedrooms as the carpet is supposedly being done today.7.52am now, upstairs we are in a shambles,Fingers crossed.

Thanks, jaywit. I am coming round to the idea of a mono laser printer as I don't need colour or the need to print photos. I gave read any number of reviews and so many inkjet printers get poor reviews. I had a HP bog standard inkjet for years and used non standard refills which were cheaper. I gave it away as my daughter left behind her CANON PIXMA all singing! all dancing one which is now giving me bother. Wish I'd kept the old one!!

Inkjet printers nozzles tend to get block if they only a a little use.  My Canon Pixma is nearly ten years old and still responds to heavy duty use - eg class handouts and various newsletters.
Don't let the B***ds grind you down.

Still trying to make up my mind. I do very little printing these days but occasionally need to print out documents. The laser printer I used at work...first a Samsung, then an HP, were a pain too. always started to clean themselves when you needed to print something fast (like an invoice when the customer is waiting!).
They did have copier/scanner functions too and the toner cartridges cost a bomb!!

This definition tells you all you need to know about 'PC'
PC, aka, Political Correctness, is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority (Liberals/Socialists) and promoted by the mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is possible to pick up faeces by the clean end.

in 2012 we were gifted a Canon Wifi printer. We buy ink for next to nowt and are quite happy with it. For photographs it works fine.
It seems all we print now are 'coupons' and the odd photograph
