I think everyone finds a place to call home. Been to quite a few different Countries but always glad to get back to Ashton as I have got older I can't stand the heat so have started to stay closer I would not bother if I went away or not but have some friends who enjoy going for a few days a couple of times a year so I make the effort and go with them Fudge

My wife Jean (nee Common) deceased asked her Mother to come over to Aussie for a visit & we would pay her fare --she said she would if we paid for a the ticket but it must be a return one as well.  This we did & she came over to Melbourne by boat for a 2 month stay which lasted until she passed away many years later. She did go back to see her brother & her sisters after being in Aussie  for about 12 years but she could not get back to Geelong, Australia quick enough she actually went for 8 weeks --she arrived back in Geelong after 5 weeks.  ( I think she must have liked it here) --Jayess

We seem to get a steady stream of ex-pats on here telling us that leaving the UK was the best thing they ever did and nothing on God's earth would possess them to return. Do we really need to know? It's like phoning up an an old girlfriend you hadn't seen for a few years and telling her you're glad you married your wife and not her.

Hi All, Hi Too shy, Relax, the whole idea of the Forum is for people to write what they feel, concerning a myriad of subjects. As long as no one is being offended, whats the problem? Chill laddie, chill.

Just a thought.......

hi too shy there are many reasons people move and our main reason was to find work as it was difficult in the early 1950s so we took a chance in Canada.cheers kennetho

I moved for work and and I was never out of work in England and never out of work here and I'm bloody glad I did move. No soot in the air for one thing a lot better climate for working if you don't mind sweating a bit.    herby

Sometimes it's just fate, I chased a Sheila down here and ended up staying, if I hadn't done that I'd probably be living somewhere up near the moors, either that or a resident of the Strangeways Hotel   ;)
This definition tells you all you need to know about 'PC'
PC, aka, Political Correctness, is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority (Liberals/Socialists) and promoted by the mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is possible to pick up faeces by the clean end.
