Just got back on line again to the Lovely News Boy born 4 24pm 8lbs 6ozs to Kate and William it will be 3rd in line to the Throne. Good Wishes to them both Fudge

As for the first name, that was always going to be anyone's guess. However, given that it was probably going to be (although not always, as history has previously shown) the name that a future monarch would be referred to as, we might have assumed that it would have been a name that had already been tried and tested. George fits the bill easily enough. Not sure about the Alexander but the Louis can easily be linked to Prince Charles' great uncle and mentor, Lord Mountbatten. Charles had no grandfathers around to fill that "interested, warm, caring yet grumpy old git" role so that seems to have been the role that Mountbatten fulfilled for Charles who appears to have been devoted to the old man.

I remember reading about Philip's background some years ago and it was littered with family intrigue and tragedies. The poor lad seems to have been shipped off to boarding school and more or less forgotten about save for Uncle Louis' keen eye. Well worth a trip back to the library for another look.
