Forum outage
« on: December 12, 2012, 10:22 PM »
Sorry folks that the forum has been off-line for the last day or so. This was due to technical problems that were not under my control.

Apparently the server space in which the forum resides was transferred to a different server by the American company that runs the servers, but without Mike, my web host, being informed. He then had problems accessing the new location which the American company was slow to deal with. Anyway, Mike persisted and now everything is working again. Thanks, Mike!

Mike tells me that you should find that the forum works faster on the new server.

Apologies for the interruption to your daily fix!
Martin

Me too, thought I'd pressed a wrong button. Great to have it back, thanks Martin and Mike.

Blimey.  So I didn't need to nip to Argos and buy a new computer then?
Looks like I'm the duffer who went and bought a new pc  :-\ Oh well, Windows 8 here I come  :)

Surprising just how much I missed this forum.  I don't always post every day, but do read every day morning and evening.  I call this forum one of my "Five a Day"

Thanks, Martin and Mike for getting the forum back on-line.. When I saw the message header I thought it said " Forum OUTRAGE". I was thinking, "Blimey, so we've missed it but no need to get in a temper" LOL

It's probably got nothing to do with the the board but has anybody else noticed that the forum clock is about 4 minutes fast ?.

Sorry for being such a time pedant but back when I was a squaddie turning up for a 6am parade at 6 meant you were 5 minutes late  ;)

Had a Dad and a husband both of whom were "time"-keeper perfectionists (one a Bobby and the other in the RCAF), and woe betide you if you were a second later than the time appointed to leave, even on holidays!    7a.m. meant 7am SHARP, no matter what excuse you had!  So it was drummed into my little brain most of my young years, and now I'm the same way...... :o ;D
(and I'm also 5 mins. out of sync on here).   ;)
