Look up in 1891 and 1911 census please
« on: April 08, 2012, 12:15 PM »
I have been unable to find this family in 1891 or 1911 census on ancestry and wondered if anyone could help.

John brooks born abt 1856 Glossop Derbyshire
Married to mary Ann Cutting 22 aug 1881 T st michaels Ashton under Lyne
In 1901 John and Mary Ann are living at 16 Dunkerley st waterloo.
Children as follows
Annie Brooks b abt 1881 Ashton u Lyne
Elizabeth b 1888/9 st Helen's Lancs
Joseph b 1890 st Helen's lancs
The other kids born after 1891

Mary Ann was 10 years younger than John and she was born Chesterfield Derbyshire. She died 1903

It seems likely they were in st Helen's area in 1891 but the rest of he children born after 1891 were born in Ashton. By 1911 Eldest daughter Annie is married to Charles Hudson Hilton and three of her siblings Are living with her at 27 Moss st.

Also can anyone enlighten me re where Worthington Square St Peters Ward Ashton would have been?

1911 census
The following refuse to be found on ancestry. If anyone has a sub to find my past I'd be most grateful for a look up. In1901 the brooks family were living at 16 Dunkerley st Waterloo.
By 1911 mother Mary Ann b 1864 Chesterfield had died and the youngest son John Brooks ( my uncle ) born 1903 had been adopted.
I am still looking for Elizabeth Brooks b 1887 st helens Joseph Brooks b 1890 st Helen's and Emily Brooks b 1892 Waterloo Ashton under Lyne
Any help much appreciated.

I don't know if this is of any use for your family tree but I have this information about the Brook family.
Annie and Charles Hodson Hilton moved to Sheffield. I have them living at 347, Barnsley Road in 1936 along with some of the children. Charles died in 1946 aged 65 and Annie died in1948 aged 65. No sign of your Joseph though unfortunately.
