Here's  a Pathe film which includes the National Gas Engine Co at the begining, you have to wait for the advert to finish first though and there's no sound, don't forget to put it into full screen mode.

Fascinating stuff, elf'n safety would throw a wobbly in that place today  :)

Must say the Persian ambassador was,nt afraid to have ago,but enjoyed the film i did work there for awhile,so was nice to see the old workshops
Hard work never killed anyone-but it made some funny shapes.

Where were their hard hats, steel capped toe boots, high vis vests?

Is the National Gas Co building still there, or has it been pulled down since Vanessa made the video clip in 2013? I tried walking on google maps but can't see it but maybe that's because of the over-bridge blocking the view from the road :)

This was the scene 40 years ago taken from Richmond Street. I believe the National Gas Engine buildings in the background have not survived nor has hardly anything else!
