Talking of Cadets I was in the Air group and we had two Sqn's 247 and I think 525  We also had a smart young chap called Carter he was Flt Sgt always led the parades Unfortunately he  became an Air Gunner and was killed early 1945 over Greece I think. I got to the lofty height of Cpl then went and joined the Navy cause they took entrants in at 16 and 9 months whereas RAF had to wait till 17 and 3 months
I have just come back to this  post because I forgot my Password etc  so I rejoined.

Who went to the above school it was located in the Library, and shared many rooms with Ashton Tech School. Is the Manchester Rgt Reserve armoury still next door?
When I was at Heginbottom Mr Whtehead was Headmaster  Did you know he won the Military Cross for bravery in WW1 with the Manchesters.  I believe he went to Stamford when Heginbottom closed. Other teachers were  Mr Winded
(Math) a lot of the teachers went into the forces, I think that was why it was closed

Kennyo  Re Sea Cadets;   Do you remeber the Cadet who led most of the parades He was an impecably dressed cadet Who certainly looked the part.
Well, when he had to go in the forces he joined the Airborne and was KIA at Arnhem, Do you recall his name or?????
