General Discussion / The Arboretum
« on: May 22, 2015, 11:05 AM »
What a lovely day yesterday With Tameside History Forum we went to The National Memorial Arboretum nr Lichfield. Could not ask for a nicer day sun was shining and the different memorials in remembering the dead from 1914 till the present day were very moving. And as a extra The Duchess of Gloucester was unveiling a memorial for the HMS Ardent that was sank in the Falklands War so that made it more special. I also ordered a Mobility Scooter so I could get all around the vast site and see most of the memorials what was so sad was the section of Shot at Dawn some of them were only 17. It is well worth a visit it is free  but a nice day is needed as it is very open to the Elements so we were so lucky it was a lovely day the first this week. Fudge

It was so sad about Manchester Dogs home. I cant't understand how anyone can want to set fire were there are children or animals who can not help them selfs it must have been heart breaking for the staff not to be able to rescue all the dogs. But what will happen to the 15 year old who did it I can not see a punishment to fit the crime Fudge

So Sad to see so much violence in the world. Inocent people are being slaughtered all the time. Now another Plane looks to have been blown out of the sky people going to do a job or on holiday. Why can't people live in peace any more. Fudge

General Discussion / Whit Walks
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:32 AM »
The walks are on Sunday it is a sad day for me as Charlestown are not walking. After last year crossing the New by pass and the traffic did not seem to bother about the lives of the people. The last few years they have cut down the number of Police on duty. They have decided they could not risk it with the young children. If the weather is fine I will go and watch and give a up date Fudge
