Left Ashton in 1976 and am now in Cambridgeshire (via Astley, London and Colchester)

Must admit my first reaction was "How American!"  (ie Harper Lee the author).  I was more irritated by the Seven part - not really any excuse for dumping that on a child.

*Groan*  I suppose this year I might have to return to (very) old habits and start planning early.  The last few years have all been a bit last minute!

I see Anna Massey has just died.  She appeared in so many things but I recently saw her in a re showing of The Darling Buds of May and thought she was exactly how I'd imagined the character when I read the books years ago.

Sorry SON - still laughing my head off at your comments!  Sounds like the sort of thing my own son would do.  I haven't got the patience to use Facebook but I keep meaning to set up Skype as friends have recommended it for keeping in touch with friends and relatives abroad.

That's not one I've read yet.  Shutter Island is good (they made a film of it which I haven't seen) but I still like the Kenzie and Gennaro series best - first book is "A drink before the war"

Never read Karen Rose so far but very much like most of Tess Gerritsen.  Which Lehane did you borrow?

Must admit that, after the last couple of days when it was so hot we couldn't breathe, it's nice to see a bit of rain!

You might like Dennis Lehane's books too.  I read a couple of his on a recommendation ("stand alones") but then discovered he'd written a series about a couple of private investigators "Kenzie and Gennaro) which I really enjoyed.  Just found another stand alone which I'd not come across so looking forward to starting that.

Glad you had a good time despite the rain.  You could have pretended you were at Glastonbury *g*

"God help you if you were caught looking at the keys, all done to music at the start to get a rythm. ""

I remember my sister saying that they had to type to Tommy James and the Shondells "Mony Mony" *lol*  Anyone remember that one?

The church pics are especially atmospheric Bill.  Loved them, especially with the clock faces lit up  :)
