 I didnt  live on palace rd but leech av and a few i remember first was Jess Bowden he lived many years at no ! next was Was Marshells he was a police man next was another
police man Woods on the other side was Ciaytons he had a DIY shop on Old st then Greenhalghs  Staffords Syd Cartledge Tom Cunningham Harry Barber (Townley crs) 3 class
mates at Stamford boys school  Davies on the corner and Evans higher up
 On Leech av we had three more policemen I dont think there will be that many now ?

I didn't live on Palace road but Leech ave we moved in 1939 just before the war,I had a few mates on palace road Tommy Cunningham Harry Barber the Davies family and Graham Sidebottom not a mate older than me  would he be related? I don't know what happen to our house no 45 but it as gone.I think we had more police than Palace road the only two I remember were the two that lived in the first two houses Sgt Marshel and Sgt Smith

For years NWW and UU have put all there eggs in the two aqueducts the Manchester corporation lay to supply Manchester
since then NWW have tapped in on the way down from the Lakes  (Abbaystead pump house and Sweetloves etc) now the first aqueduct needs repairs  They have closed reservoirs and sold the land, the only new one is Dove Stones which was made to improve the quality of Tame because of all the sewage works that flow in to it But then  Buckton Castle treatment Plant was built to supply drinking water from Dove stones and Carr brook was closed . I am only talking about Tameside

Hi Joyce I don't know much about Northern Aircraft except my uncle worked there he walked with a limp I think that's why he was not called up his name was Eric Saxon and lived on Mossley rd  Also you mention the air raid on Coventry my dad was in the fire service and he went from Stalybridge to Coventry he was there about 5 days from what I remember a long time ago
