Looking for family or friends... / Old Timers

I am trying to recall a gentleman who I knew as "Slim" had been a POW in Japan (Manchester Rgt). and he came in all the Pubs at Mossley Rd and Montague Rd... Miners, Cottage tavern and New Inn {1946-).. He was tall and had a small car. A real gentleman. There were two others who also popped in the Pub on occasion who had been in the Japanese Camps and all remembered it with despair.
I realize they have passed on now , but maybe others will recall them

General Discussion / Another Star bites the dust

Just announced on CNN that Philip Seymour Hoffman, Oscar winning actor  found dead of an overdose at the age of 46.
What a waste, At the same time we are clamouring to legitimize Marijuana.  Think of this, most of the people who die of overdoses, Heroin etc started on Marijuana. How do we stop this stupidity?..
