I know my friend contacted me to see if my internet was ok, she has talktalk in her office and AOL at home and neither was working, underground cable was stolen in Oldham and a lot of people were affected, luckily even though I had friends with sky broadband who were complaining mine was fine.

Does she, that's nice to know, thankyou

Yes my friend Jean Tavener was a Lay Preacher there, not been there for a bit.

Talking about Ashton / Re: Street Names

Thankyou Martin, really interesting, ,need to read them again slowly, some of the name changes are common sense but a couple made me laugh i.e Cow Lane to Ney Street, and the origins are very good to read up on, as I lived near Villiers, Cobden,Bright st whilst living for 15 years on Currier Lane I did know the history of these but enjoyed widening my knowledge on the others.

Sorry sue he is older than me but not much so guessing he is 55 maybe, where do you know him from, know he went to same school as me ashton grammar.

no dont know which number, I lived at 28 and so it was a house going towards corner of cobden street prob about no. 32 but not exactly sure, he worked for forrestry department but sure he is retired now, hes got 2 children and one loved riding, if I see him I will let you know, sure both his brother sister are dead now and never met his wife.

do you mean stephen thompson, lived on villiers st and then currier lane, last time i saw him he was still living there, i grew up near him and his family as i lived on currier lane.

Excuse me but margaret thatcher was a fantastic lady and  I won't be told I can't express my admiration for her strength and determination, and This country has freedom of speech an I am entitled to my opinion and you should show respect to the family of the dead
